Dallas, Texas is the crown jewel of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area and is home to an estimated 1.2 million people. Although Dallas has no navigable waterways, it remains a prominent business city due to its importance in the petroleum, banking,
computer technology, telecommunications and transportation industries. Many large and well known corporations are based in Dallas because
of its central location within the United States and its position along several important railroad lines. Dallas is also host
to several annual conventions and is home to the Dallas Market Center, which is the largest wholesale trade complex in the world. The city is serviced by two major airports, Dallas Love Field, and the DFW International Airport.
The city of Dallas has over
400 parks on approximately 21,000 acres of land along with 17 different lakes featuring every outdoor activity you can think of. The most famous of these park areas is Fair Park, which is the location of the annual State Fair of Texas held in late September through
the middle of October. The city is home to several different neighborhoods and sections of town including the Arts District,
Oak Lawn, Uptown Dallas, Turtle Creek, and the West End. One of the newest and most notable areas of Dallas is Victory Park featuring
the American Airline Center. This sport and entertainment venue is home to the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, and several
other concert and year-round events. Dallas is also home to arguably the most famous National Football League team, the Dallas
Cowboys.
Because of its booming economy, Dallas and its suburbs have become one of the fastest growing areas in the country. This is due to the availability of affordable housing and the cost of living relative to other areas throughout the nation.
Fair Park is the home of the Cotton Bowl and the Texas State Fair, which runs from late September to the middle of October.
Visit Big Tex, eat a corndog, and ride the biggest ferris wheel in North America.
Located just north of the West End District, Victory Park will feature its own array of restaurants, shops and entertainment including
the world-famous House of Blues. Future residents of Victory Park will live in high-dollar condos just minutes from downtown
Dallas.
The American Airlines Center is home of the highly successful sport franchises the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, and the Dallas
Desperados. This state-of-the-art venue is also a great place to catch a live concert.
The Sixth Floor Museum is located in the Texas School Book Depository building in Dealy Plaza. You can learn about the life,
times, and death of President John F. Kennedy and examine the events that took place on that infamous day.
