Arlington, Texas is known as the mid-city between Fort Worth and Dallas, and is home to over 360,000 residents.  Arlington has the distinction of being the 49th largest city in the United States.  The city has a rich tradition of history that dates back over 150 years.  Arlington started out as a trading post in the 1840’s and was the scene of several famous gun battles between settlers and Native Americans.  The area attracted many farmers and agricultural related industries because of its rich soil. The city itself was founded in the mid 1870’s and was named after General Robert E. Lee’s house located in Arlington County, Virginia. Arlington, Texas was officially incorporated in 1884 and by 1910 was considered modern due to its water, natural gas, electricity, and telephone services.

Today, Arlington has become a thriving area due to its ability to attract several prominent businesses, attractions, and sporting franchises.  The city is already home to the MLB Texas Rangers, which play their games at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, formerly known as Ameriquest Field.  Arlington is also the future home of the new NFL football stadium where the Dallas Cowboys will play their home games.  The city boasts a Six Flags Theme Park and Hurricane Harbor Waterslide Park. There are over 4,600 acres of park land in Arlington, including five recreation centers, four golf courses, and a lake, Lake Arlington. If you are into entertainment, there are several museums, theaters, and galleries to enjoy as well as three major shopping areas, Lincoln Square, Brownstone Village, and The Parks at Arlington.
